Synopsis: Why did the boy not remove the earphone from his girlfriend's ear?

A young couple approximately their age was seated two rows in front of them. It was silent in the bus save for the rhythmic groan of the engine and slight buzz of the outside traffic. The boy and girl were connected by a white wire, noticeably earphones plugged into the facing sides of their ears. Their hands were similarly linked by the still action of fingers laced together in a safe clasp. Neither of them spoke, it was just them and the music in their ears.
"They are so sweet." Shou whispered, afraid that his volume would shatter the tranquil moment ahead of him. Saga shrugged his shoulders, casting the couple ahead a short glance. They looked pretty ordinary to him.
After a few moments, the girl's head started to bob, not to the music or jerky motion of the bus, to Shou, who was watching from the back, it seemed very much so that she was dozing off. The boy lifted his music player and switched it off, then he proceeded to pull out the earphone from his right ear, after which he placed his end of it and the gadget neatly onto his bag. He scooted closer to the girl just in time to let her bobbing head come to a rest on his shoulder, however, he did not remove the other end of the earphone from her ear.
Shou frowned. Why did the boy not do that? Ah, he realised, he must have been afraid that that act of doing so would awaken the girl. Shou smiled softly. "They are so sweet." He repeated.
Saga tilted his head at the remark he just heard not too long ago, "How so?" Shou rolled his eyes at his boyfriend's lack of attention to the surroundings and summarised what he observed. "Big deal," Saga scoffed. Shou gasped. "What!? As if you'd be that thoughtful!" he huffed, crossing his arms. "We wouldn't even be in that situation to begin with." Saga simply said. Shou pouted and stared out of the window. What an ass!
"That's 'cause I'd be singing you to sleep right next to your ear instead." Saga leaned over and whispered in a low voice, smirking in victory as he watched the blush slowly work its way up Shou's cheeks. ".... Asshole."
A/N: Started this off with my OTP, but as it progressed, I "saw" Saga saying it to Shou instead. To me, they are the number one cheesiest couple :D
