Synopsis: Aoi and Shou have split personality disorder. What happens when parts of themselves hate and love one of the other, when the main individuals themselves are not aware of their other identities?

The room Aoi was in started to spin a little. Fortunately he was on a chair, so he gripped the desk next to him for support. What Hiroto said made sense, yet it didn’t at the same time. His words bubbled on the surface of his mind, drifting, wafting, not piecing together and not forming any logic. What’s more with the sudden revelation of him and Shou sharing the same doctor, Shou’s father at that… Yet Hiroto doesn’t seem like he meant Shou any harm. Seeing that he has been around for quite some time now and Shou genuinely seems to cherish him a lot.

Hold on.

They were in a mental facility. Shou had to be around his age, and if this place is 13 years old, that means Hiroto has been here since Shou was five? What on earth? Shouldn’t Shou be cured by now? Cured of this illness or whatever it is.

“So Shou’s father - Doctor Kazamasa knows about you too all along?” Aoi bit his tongue. He was stating the blatant obvious.

Hiroto, now leafing through Shou’s notebook on the bed, nodded.

“Then why-“

“Why am I still here? That’s because I’m pivotal to Shou.” Hiroto interrupted, clapping the book shut. “He has grown to depend and rely on me. Getting rid of me would break him. They tried it before but it didn’t work. Shou became ballistic. Let me correct myself, Shou knew about me. But each time they told him, he didn’t believe it and he basically went insane. After shots of tranquilizers and he calmed down, he would have clean forgotten about it. Then that would be when he needs me again. It’s a recurring thing Shiroyama-kun. No one here knows what to do with Shou.” Hiroto continued sadly.

“They all say that Shou’s broken up here,” Hiroto pointed to his head, “but I’d like to think that even if he is so, he still has me. And that makes him feel better.”

Rubbing a coarse thumb over the worn cover of the notebook, Hiroto took in a deep breath and met Aoi’s eyes once more. “So Shiroyama-kun, if you don’t mind, could you do me this favour and not tell Shou? It would hurt him… Again.”

The twist of events was akin to a large slab of rock crushing his sense of reasoning. Yet, Aoi found himself nodding to Hiroto’s request.
