Linked hands visibly hidden behind a pair of grinning adolescents in fall with honey maple leaves at their feet flowed with the naivety of youth and first-loves.
A large hand gently placed atop a mess of black hair with a peaceful sleeping face in monochrome shades manifested affection and security.
A man with his head tilted back, sunlight kissing his eyelids and his arms outstretched in a meadow of cattail read liberty and bliss.
Five men with joined hands and frozen in mid-air on a stage spelled nothing less than success and everlasting bonds.
Moments of someone embarrassed from being caught crying in front of a television red-handed, drowsily pouring water onto the table top instead of a cup while making coffee, shouting in mock anger at idiotic band mates, deciding between two cans of sardines for dinner preparation at a grocery store, a palm blocking an annoyed face from telling the bassist to quit it with his camera and many other such scenes scattered across their dining table.
However, what lay in the heart of the collection was rectangular shots received from the police earlier that afternoon. What should have been the drummer smiling was instead bloodied snippets of his limbs and stained clothes. Dull irises with light gone from its pupils stared at Reita. His vision begun to cloud. Welled up tears which partially obscured his sight provided mild comfort, but reality returned in hurricanes each time he choked on his breathing and wiped them away with his hands.
Teardrops fell onto those photographs, creating blots and stains of discoloration. But Reita understood. He understood that disfiguring images were futile, for photographs never lie.
