Synopsis: Tora never expressed his agreement to any rules Nao imposed.
In their society, their relationship was taboo; prohibited. What goes on behind closed doors should remain behind closed doors.
Or so Nao always told Tora, and Tora listened, retaliated and lapsed into silence.
And as far as Tora knew, silent does not equate to consent.
It’s alright to bend the rules a little, even if they were set by Nao.
#1 We should not make eye contact.
“What!?” Tora gasped. “Then how are we supposed to communicate? Doesn’t not looking at each other make us look totally awkward?” Nao tapped his chin. “Hmm I guess you’re right. Okay. No making longer eye contact than necessary.” He grinned and placed both his hands on Tora’s shoulders. “You can do it Tiger!”
Tora rolled his eyes.
Instead, whenever the camera rolled, he still stared at Nao. Be it through the reflection of the camera lens which somehow played to his advantage as it made him look as though he was paying total attention, or simply turning around and deflecting the drummer’s line of sight to meet his own. Nao’s eyebrows would crease a little, and only Tora could see the barely visible line between his eyes. But Tora didn’t care. Despite Shou nudging his knee while chattering away with Hiroto, and Saga prodding his shoulder blade with a poker face, Tora remained with his head turned back, for just a moment longer.
#2 We should not hold hands.
“Why not!” Tora complained, “It’s not like-“. Nao deadpanned, “Straight guys don’t hold hands Tora!” Tora crossed his arms. Nao’s arms snaked around his waist and he nuzzled his nose against the hollow of a collarbone. “It’s alright Tiger, you won’t die from not holding my hand.” Nao chuckled. Tora didn’t reply.
He so would.
Therefore on the live broadcast on NicoNico for Nao’s birthday, he closed his fingers firmly around Nao’s hand as he guided it into the box to meet the iguana. Despite Shou’s eyes which glinted a little in alarm while maintaining his cheery laughter whilst holding the idiotic piece of konyaku, and Nao who stiffened the tiniest bit when their skin touched, Tora did not release his hold. With the camera whirring, numerous staffs’ gazes upon them and fans who squealed at them through computer monitors from all over the world, Tora’s grip remained in place, for just a moment longer.
#3 We should not kiss.
“It should be alright if no one sees us.” Tora argued. Nao stopped slurping his Starbucks latte. “No Tora. We can’t risk that happening.” Tora sighed. Setting aside his drink, Nao scooted over and rested his chin on Tora’s shoulder. “It will be okay Tiger. Just… Try to control yourself? After all, I know I am irresistible~” Nao laughed, and jabbed a pudgy finger at Tora’s cheek. The guitarist however, stared straight ahead.
Oh hell yeah Nao was.
“Nao, you’re up next!” The director called, his voice echoing down the corridor of the set. “Coming!” Nao shouted as he grabbed his drumsticks and started for the door. Tora however, stood up abruptly and plastered his palms on the wall against both sides of Nao’s head. “Tora we shouldn’t-“ But Tora cut him off, and silenced Nao’s lips. Despite the makeup artist’s loud gasp, and the soft tud from Hiroto dropping his tuner, Tora held Nao’s head in place. Another call for Nao to get on set came, but Nao dropped his drumsticks as he looped his hands around Tora’s neck, and they remained still, for just a moment longer.
A/N: Meant to be a drabble but it turned out longer than I thought. I’ve never watched much of Alice Nine, and I don’t know much about how they're like off-stage… So I went to give myself a crash course by clicking random youtube videos. From what I noticed, Tora and Nao are rarely near each other on screen. Dedicated to theklewerz for entertaining me on twitter :D My first shot at this pairing, what do you think?
