MY 10 things...and a little extra

Dec 10, 2009 13:23

Since I had asked everyone to give me 10 Favorite things about themselves I am now sharing 10 about me...here you go, in no particular order:

1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE costumes! I have several, and every time I go into a costume store I just about die with the want to buy something! Most of the time I don't have money so I don't even walk PAST a costume store...but when I do *sigh* I have so many of what other people would call stupid costume accessories, and even stuff like the fake plastic guns and knives are things that I just love to have...I don't even know why I have this NEED to buy costumes and their props. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I love acting and that when I am in a costume I take on an entirely new persona...I even own wigs so that when I want to change my hair I can do it without making it permanent :D

2. Which brings me to my next love: Acting. I cannot even tell you how much I love this art! Watching, performing, directing others in it! I discovered it only 3 years ago with my first musical performance in a musical called Wonderful Town and it was solidified in my performance in Chicago the Musical. I had ensemble roles, which is how I like it in plays on stage, but I definitely want a leading role in a Sci-Fi show one of these days, or a co-star role (I am assuming you can all guess which show would just about kill me if I ever got cast). I have actually decided to apply to Film school in January at The Vancouver Film School up in Canada *crosses fingers* I hope I make it in, cause that will be my launch pad to making it in Television! (did you know Emile Ullerup attended VFS???)

3. My mum is my favorite person...no really she is! REALLY! I am not lying, she will not be reading this. I am not just trying to score brownie (evil ones of course) points! She is my best friend and she always has been. We are each other's best friends. I can tell her anything! I might not always offer the information but I won't lie to her about the important stuff. Of course like all mothers and daughters we fight, sometimes it gets pretty loud, but we are always there for each other and our fights never last very long. The one thing I am sure to do EVERY DAY is tell my mum how much I love her and how wonderful a woman she is! And her strength is something I am constantly in awe about! She raised 4 girls on her own for 21 years and through all of that she got her AA degree, survived breast cancer, and worked several jobs at once just so she could buy her girls clothes and a treat every Friday we were growing up. I love her, and it is more than just love, cause we have a friendship and a bond that is soooo like Gilmore Girls you'd think they stole the idea for the perfect mother/daughter relationship from us!

4. I have only just discovered social networking on the internet and boy was I missing out! I have found some of the greatest people here! As well as founded the evil organization GA_GD with my evil sister http://rebeccavoy.livejournal.com/ (who is also one of my new favorite people) :D Twitter has become a place where I can get a laugh, a hug, comfort, and the friends I have made can never be replace in my heart! I learned about TSE and through the process of lots of panic and worry, TWO wonderful women offered to pay for my ticket. Who does that? I know very few people in real life who would ever offer, and the trust these women have in me astounds and floors me. I know that I am honest and trust worthy because I'm in my own head, but these two are taking it on faith that I am who I claim to be, and that just makes me...ping? Yeah I think ping is an apt description :D The internet brought me all of my new friends, and has helped me connect with the old ones as well.

5. Sanctuary is a BIG part of my life! Or I should say Amanda Tapping is. She brought me to the internet! If it weren't for her and shows like Stargate, and Sanctuary, I never would have looked for internet fandom sites, or joined LJ, and as a result joined Twitter. I never would have met any of you, and that is just not cool! She has impacted my life more, I believe, then even I know. I have become a better person because of her! I have tried to take her example of living life and conserving our planet and just living my dream! I am perusing acting because she inspired me to do what I really want to do. If it weren't for her I would be a senior in College dreading my future because all I'd have to look forward to was a life full of teaching something that I was no longer passionate about. That is not ok, not fair to me and not fair to the children I would be teaching. I am glad I will have a fall back if I need it, but I am not prepared to use it for many MANY years! And perhaps not even then! She is my hero, and my idol, and my inspiration to chase my dream until I catch it! And the fact that she is a genuine person, not out for glory or fame, but to give to others (because that is why she acts! She loves it, but she also loves giving to people), and she never fails to show her support to the fans, and the charities that she has dedicated a lot of her time to. I only hope I am half the person she is when I catch my dream!

6. Friends. I could not survive without my friends! I have my Soul Mate, Hillary (lost each other's #'s THREE times and then randomly met in the most RANDOM places after each time they were lost), we are meant to be together forever as BFFs; My Lover, Kamaile...we seriously NEED each other. We go through withdraws if we stay apart too long! NO JOKE! I get depressed and moody...I am never moody otherwise (crAzy stuff). My Love, Kerrianne. She is new to my list of titles. I don't know what I would do in Riverside without her, definitely would not have been able to pass my English class without her, and what would I do with my Friday's if her and Michael didn't have Sanctuary Friday with me? My newest titled friend is my Evil Sister, Becca. When I think of the past two months I cannot imagine not knowing her! She is my very first international bestie ever, and boy did I pick a good one...you all know about GA_GD...that entire start up conversation happened very randomly, and when I told her we need to make a list, I did not actually believe she was listing, and when I found out she really was it made my heart happy and she got herself a permanent place in it! I have made so many other friends I don't want to list anymore then forget someone and hurt their feelings so I will stick to these 4 at the moment, but you know where you stand in my heart because I have said it many times.

7. School...ok ok I KNOW it may not seem like it most of the time, but I do enjoy school. I love learning, my issue with a lot of my classes it that I'm NOT learning anything new, or the way that the teacher teaches makes it very hard to pay attention or even learn the new material. I could be an OUTSTANDING student in the grade portion if I tried a little harder, but without trying I get B's and I am ok with B's. I also think that I am SOOOOO done with UCRiverside and the entire college scene, even if I still have fun with it. I have lost my drive and I think it is because I am so excited about getting into film school (which has not happened yet *crosses fingers*), and I just want life to start beyond school...been going for 16 years and I will be going for another 2 years...I hope I can do what I want when I am done, and I hope that film school is tough and fun all at the same time!

8. I love musicals and dancing and singing, even if it isn't always the best. I think if my mum had had the money I would have been a dancer instead of an actress. I have a natural dancers shape (I'm not in shape but I am thin and long and tall) and I also have the poise necessary to be a dancer. Even though I am not technically trained in dancing I am still a quick learner of dance moves and I have rhythm passed down from my mum (she used to dance) and my dad (who sings and plays music). I also got my drawing/artistic skills from my grandmother on my mum's side...let's just say I got a very luck draw when it comes to genetics, and I am VERY grateful for it! I love singing, especially when I find a song in my range, or if I can change a song to fit into my range...makes me very happy (Perfect example is "The Wizard and I"...I changed it to "Rebecca and I" and was able to also change it to fit my vocal range). I just love performing!

9. I love peanut butter...I know, random right? I just love it! I can eat it all the time which is a good thing cause I have recently been forced to live off it and jelly...poor college student and all with no stove (yes I live in an on-campus apartment and have no stove...sad but the truth nevertheless). I eat it on pancakes, tortillas, bread of course (love it on toast), Oreos, green apples, celery, and many other ways. I just love PB!

10. I love books. They are my window to another world! I love reading almost anything as long as I choose it and it's not chosen for me...not very good with school assigned works, always feel like I wanna rebel against the book. However I do read and sometimes am pleasantly surprised when it turns out to be a good book. Example, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath...REALLY did not want to read it because it was homework, but once I started I finished within the day, and it was fantastic! Harry Potter was my first book crush...it is the series that got me hooked on reading, and I am not even lying! I didn't read before Harry Potter and once I did I went on a fantasy binge, then moved onto adventure with Clive Cussler then romance with Jude Deveroux and then murder mystery with Nora Roberts writing under the pseudonym J D Robb...and I have read several hundred books in the span of 8 years, ever since I fell in love with a wizard named Harry *contented sigh*

Now I am just gonna list a few random things about myself:

• I like to scrapbook and have done so the past 2 years

• I like to set up pictures but then I like to jump into them, which is hard sometimes because I am the only one who can get the image I want in my head and that means I have to be behind the camera. And I would much rather take a picture WITH someone then by myself. In fact, in High School when I needed a nice solo picture for my senior scholarship folder I couldn't find one and had get all pretty and take a picture then go to the nearest WallyWorld and get it developed (it was due the next day).

• My favorite chips are Fritos and when I went on my first date with this boy we went to the HP4 midnight premiere with my soul mate (his sister) and my family...well he walks up to me and before he gives me a hug he opens his jacket and inside he has a bag of Fritos...he got an EXTRA big hug for that lol

• I like spending money...who doesn't right? But I could care less if it is on myself or someone else. I went to New York for a Graduation gift and by the 3rd day of being a tourist and shopping in NYC the only thing I had bought for myself was an "I heart NY" sweatshirt from a street vendor and I was almost out of money.

• I like Tattoos...I have 5 and have stopped myself from getting more cause I want to act...and I don't want to start with bunches of tattoos all over me :P

• I love Christmas music, but I am kinda glad it only plays seasonally...I think it would annoy me otherwise :P

• Disney Junkie

• I own all the DVDs of Stargate (SG-1&SGA), X-Files, Charmed, Xena, Hercules, and working on BSG...I even have the straight to DVD movies of them all (if there was a STDVD movie made)

• I neglect buying myself clothes cause I always buy books or costumes or art supplies...I own one pair of jeans, 3 pairs of other non pj pants, and the rest are skirts or shorts that I have had since HS (yes I still fit into my HS clothes)

• I want n iPhone for no other reason than that AT has one :D
