I got a chance to have a read of the book the other week, and in all honesty I wasn't impressed. I know a lot of you lot have read and enjoyed the books, so I have to ask - what is the attraction?

My review! )

I concur! Twilight, in a lot of ways, read just like a not so great fanfic to me. When I read the part about Edward sparkling, I literally thought to myself that I could read this crap for free at ffnet. The term "sparkling Sue" exists for a reason (or perhaps sparkling Stu in Edward's case). Bella's a bore and the writing is the definition of purple prose with all the numerous adjectives about how amazingly gorgeous Edward is. I always found the lack of vampire-related interest/difficulties off-putting too though later in the book and series, issues do arise as a result of them being vampires but I didn't find particularly climatic.
