I step outside the gym intent on doing some sidework and exploring, when all of a sudden a Team Aqua Barista hauls ass by, pursued by the scientist from earlier, begging the disaffected youth to not take those parts away! Waugh! I don't want plot right now.
Fine, but you can't make me like it.
The scientist recognizes Cody right away and pleads with him to help him return the stolen parts or else the scientist will be in big trouble. Dude, usually the insurance agency takes care of that. Unless you were doing something you weren't supposed to with it? Were you tampering in God's Domain? What am I saying; of COURSE you were tampering in God's Domain. He helpfully points us to a nearby tunnel that he saw the Alt-Rock Bassist run down. But a nearby "Your Taxes at Work!" sign has been X'd out, suggesting that the project has stalled and the tunnel is incomplete. Well, that's convenient. He'll probably fall off an unfinished ledge onto something jagged and I can retrieve those parts at my leisure.
I need False Swipe for hunting and Cut for exploration, so I put False Swipe on Zmey, and then Cut on Blitz the Zigzagoon. I run around and explore behind cuttable trees, collecting a Great Ball, a Miracle Seed and a couple XAttacks. But I'm not just doing this for the Phat Swagz, I need trading fodder, because an old friend has offered an item I need and a clutch of eggs. Yes, that's right, we've been contacted by
Warrior Cat Xao! I snag up a few friends, including a Cascoon I name Brimley, and a Slakoth whom I name Priscilla after the female sloth in the Zootopia DMV trailer and connect via long-distance satellite to Kalos!
The first I get is a Pancham, and he's holding a Dawnstone! I wanted this because I want my (Current) Ralts to grow up into a big and strong Gallade, but Bulbapedia tells me that the Dawnstone in this game is located on Victory Road. Now I finished X at a rather high level, and Kirlia will want to evolve around level 30, so either I stuff his pockets with Everstones and wait it out, or I rely on the kindness of friends.
Also included in the trade are four eggs, so I resolve myself to spend the evening pacing back and forth in front of the Flower Shop in South Rustboro. The first one hatches after a bit of work, and it is a Noibat! Neat! I don't think I've seen one of these yet. It's a dual type Flying/Dragon pokemon, and the Dragon typing has me excited. His evolved form looks like Dracula's Bat-Monster form from Bram Stoker's Dracula, so Imma name you Alucard. I think that naming him after the Son of the Son of the Dragon is appropriate.
Second one to hatch is a Turtwig. We are now turtle enough for The Turtle Club. They were one of the starters for Generation 4, which I acquired Platnum for but did not play. Can I just say, the Gen4 Starters don't excite me much? The others are fire monkey Chimchar, which just reminds me of those stupid Elemental Monkeys that were laying around everywhere in the early game of X; and water Penguin Piplup, which is alright, I guess but kinda boring. Anyway, Turtwig, I dub you Morla. If I ever decide I need another grass type and let you out of my PC, may you strive to live up to that name.
Third is another Noibat, a female this time, with slightly inferior stats. I name you Mina, and dub thee Trade Bait. Maybe you will find a loving home on Wonder Trade. As I finish naming Mina, I look at the stats for the egg, and it's still in the first stage of development, after about an hour of walking. Come on egg! WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME. Both I and my 3DS need food, so I put the game on the charging pedestal and make myself dinner.
The last egg to hatch is an Eevee, whom I creatively named Eve. I think Eevees are neat, though I think I managed to collect all the Eeveelutions in X. I'm gonna have to dig out my copy of X and find out. Also: I need to figure out if I put a bunch of stuff in the Pokemon Bank and then let the account lapse. I will not be a happy bunny in a skirt if that winds up being the case.
Anyway, Noibat is neat and will definitely be added to my party now. I'm also on the lookout for something Fire-typed, and maybe some Electricity. I think a Fighting pokemon would be neat too, but I'm not sure. But if I decide to go that direction, I do have a Pancham now!
Well, I'm gonna let my DS recharge and then maybe do some Super Training, and Pokemon Amie, and then I'll get back to you afterwards. No, Scientist Guy. I'm not worried about your Industrial Theft. Why do you ask?
