Puns, I just discovered, may lurk unsuspected in families for generations. I don't think of Ira as an Irish name, but that's my paternal grandfather's name as written on my Dad's birth certificate. Weird...my grandmother met a man in the military. She got pregnant by him and he told her he wasnt ready for a child and he left. She said back then, they never gave out their real names in the military. So my mom doesnt know her dad or his real name. Its sad. She knew my grandfather as her father up until she was 18, when he died. Then my grandmother tells her "he's not your real father." Imagine how she felt. Really messed up situation!

I don't even know my paternal Grandma's name, because strangely enough, her name was not on Dad's birth certificate- just Grampa's name! I don't know if Dad knew his own mother's given name- he never talked about her and I never thought to ask.
