So this is the art for
sparrowshellcat's story
Sparks, which is awesome and you should definitely read. I . . . may or may not have gone overboard with the art. I do that occasionally, but really I think the story was inspiring and I was kind of just like "I WANNA MAKE STUFF." So I made stuff.
download.
So the initial idea for the art was this fanmix. The process I use to put together fanmixes is unnecessarily complex and involves a lot of me thinking things like: "I have a lot of songs about robot sex. I have a lot of songs about Tony Stark. It's a wonder I don't have a song about Tony Stark fucking robots. NOT THAT I NEED ONE. What was I doing?"
Anyone who has seen my fanmixes before probably recognizes at least one of the tracks on here ("Fight" was on
SUPER: the soundtrack of a city in need, "Fire (Aim Your Arrows High)" is on
not your bunny, "Waiting For" is on
A View of Battery City) which. I would deny reusing the same 14 songs over and over, but I actually have a list of songs that I'm not allowed to use unless I really have to because I try to shove them into every fanmix.
But really, the thing about my fanmix process is that sometimes stuff gets cut off the long list to make the short list. Resulting in EPs of songs about Tony Stark.
download.Whis is what becoming my own self-fulfilled prophecy really is. Well, actually what happened was "Oh No!" was on the long list and then I decided that "Chaos" fit with the overall sound better so I opted for that instead. Then I realized that there wasn't really a song on the mix for the beauty that is the Epps/Tony/Sam in the fic so I put together a little ep for Tony (and the people he goes after). It's made entirely out of female vocalists because that amuses me and also I like to think that's what Tony secretly listens to. I actually made the cover for this one first, so when it went together smoothly I though that clearly the cover for the bigger fanmix would go together well too. Haha.
I was so wrong.
I made this initially, but then I tried to put the title of the fanmix on it and it wasn't working very well. I thought "whatever, it can just be an extra piece of art. I'll make another one." because I've learned that art rarely goes the way you want it to.
So I made this and then I tried to put the title on and ran into the same problem. By this point I wasn't exactly getting mad at it, but I was just sitting there and going "what do." The answer ended up being "open up a new document and paste EVERYTHING in there, we'll just make a wallpaper."
You will notice that I did not make a wallpaper and the final mix cover contains both of the previous images. That's because I finally noticed that the bide sides lined up so I could have them as a very small version of what they were meant to be, which solved my text proble. Of course, two 250px by 250px images next to each other don't make a 500px by 500px mix cover, so I added a couple things on the bottom.
And then I added some extra stuff to the bottom of that and came up with this. So essentially the process of making a mix means going a little off the rails sometimes and ending up with more than you ever intended.
I am definitely super happy to have picked
Sparks to work with, and I'm definitely super-reccommending that you check it out. It's awesome, and
sparrowshellcat deserves a lot of love. ♥
