Lydia comes over because she and Allison are both alone now-Jackson's broken up with Lydia for some obscure reason and Scott's not . . . Allison doesn't like to think about it. That's part of why Lydia's there, of course. So Allison doesn't have to think about Scott and her family and anything but entertaining Lydia. She must not falter; Argents don't cry.
The problem with Lydia is that, well. Lydia is strong in all the ways Allison wants to be. It's part of what drew her to Lydia in the first place-Allison was sure her mother would approve of someone as smart and beautiful and strong as Lydia is. Her mother does approve, and Allison thinks it might be one of the first times her mother has actively liked one of her friends. Usually her mother doesn't, so Allison stopped trying after a while. She doesn't really want to try in Beacon Hill either, but somehow . . .
Even with all the problems, Allison's really glad that she decided to try again. Lydia brings her out of the shell she's constructed, and that's good. Allison's never really had anyone besides her family who's there for her in the way Lydia is. She's certainly never had anyone that knows her well enough to bring sappy romcoms and her favorite kind of ice cream even though she says she's fine.
So really, Allison knows why she kisses Lydia. It's not a sexy kiss, just a thank you with less words, but Allison's still expecting Lydia to pull away. To never speak to her again, maybe. She's definitely not expecting Lydia to kiss her back, questioning and not at all pushy in the way Allison's come to associate with her. Ther's still that same decisiveness, but there's space for Allison to make her own choice too and that more than anything else is what makes Allison settle her hands on Lydia's hips and press their bodies together.
They tangle together and it awkward with too many limbs and it's. It's okay, even if Allison can feel the guilt that wants to twist itself around her heart and settle like a parasite. She pushes it away, though, letting her hands explore Lydia's body and memorize the geography of it.
When Lydia slides down the length of Allison's body, presses fluttering kissing to the insides of her thighs, Allison squeezes her eyes shut. This is something that no one's ever done to her before, and she's not a blushing virgin, but there's something so vulnerable about it. About the way it lays someone bare.
Maybe the fact that Lydia's not brilliant at it shouldn't comfort Allison as much as it does, but there's something nice about knowing that Lydia's not good at everything. Yet. She learns quickly, and it's not long before Allison is shaking apart. Once she's pulled herself back together, Lydia's stretched out next to her, and Allison kisses her again.
She never wants to stop, and for once Allison doesn't want to over-analyze what that means for the future.
