Welcome to 2023 ...

I just wanted to leave a quick post today to wish you all a happy New Year. The dogs and I are doing well, hunkered down in Bozeman for the winter, and still going on long daily walks. This is a shot from a few days ago, when it was roughly 20 below outside, and Emma still insisted we hit the trail for a couple miles. (Lewis freezes up at that ( Read more... )

Those crazy-cold winter days ca really be gorgeous. I'd still much rather have it be summer, though. :)

Now, THAT is a WINTER photo! Wide open space covered with snow, a hint of mountain in the distance, brilliant blue sky, and a nearly pulsing bright sun! Emma is the sugar in the scene, almost melting into the snow scene.

A great photo that--beside that dark rolling line in the distance--reminds me of my North Dakota childhood. Thank you.

Happy New Year, my friend. I'm looking forward to more fun/interesting posts from you.

Yep, except for the mountains in the distance that photo could totally be North Dakota in January! There's something pretty wonderful about the winter light at these latitudes, for sure ... it almost makes it worth going out in subzero weather. :)

And a happy New Year to you and yours, as well. I hope things are going great for you guys.

Happy New Year! I don't blame Lewis for waiting in the car. The photo is beautiful and it looks like a very cold scene.

Happy New Year to you, too!

Lewis was not happy about having to wait in the car, but it just took a minute walking in the snow in those temperatures for his paws to freeze up. He's not quite as tough as Emma ...

Happy New Year! It's good to see that you and the dogs are still enjoying the great outdoors, though I don't blame Lewis for wanting to stay in the warm car when it's that cold.

Happy New Year to you, too!

Lewis felt bad about being left out of the walk, but his paws just couldn't take the cold snow. Emma could have been out there for hours, though.

I didn't really want to go out there myself, but in the end I was glad that Emma forced the issue. It was so gorgeous.
