5. To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee (studied it at school, hated it) 8. Nineteen Eighty Four - George Orwell 25. The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams 49. Lord of the Flies - William Golding (didn't study it at school, unlike most people) 74. Notes From A Small Island - Bill Bryson (only half, just couldn't get into it)
I was going to read Animal Farm but it wasn't available in the library when I went. Catcher In The Rye is on my "to read" list. Right now, I'm half way through Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon. Apart from getting through a third of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea a couple of years ago, it's the first book I've read in three years!
I wasn't expecting it to be so high for me actually. It's made me think that I really want to reread loads of these books - half of them I probably couldn't remember the plot of anymore. Especially The Bible ;-)
29 ain't bad. My list reads scarily like the national library of feminist literature - I'm going to have to go and watch some mindless porn to get my masculinity back I think
