Yer so bad, best thing I ever had

*Giddy:
A. Having a reeling, lightheaded sensation; dizzy.
B. Frivolous and lighthearted; flighty.
The word giddy refers to fairly lightweight experiences or situations, but at one time it had to do with profundities. Giddy can be traced back to the same Germanic root *gud- that has given us the word God. The Germanic word *gudigaz formed on this root meant “possessed by a god.” Such possession can be a rather unbalancing experience, and so it is not surprising that the Old English descendant of *gudigaz, gidig, meant “mad, possessed by an evil spirit,” or that the Middle English development of gidig, gidi, meant the same thing, as well as “foolish; mad (used of an animal); dizzy; uncertain, unstable.” Our sense “lighthearted, frivolous” represents the ultimate secularization of giddy.

I had the most amazing long weekend. Liz, Sarah, and I made it a girls trip, complete with video/photographic documentation. I love Liz's family/cabin at the lake. Tom Petty was fan-fucking-tastic and now we have a new phrase "pooping the party." My voice hurts. It is too bad that my nap lasted so long yesterday and I missed the majority of Bumbershoot, but I did see Ted Leo and Flogging Molly. I like music. Apparently I am the center of some nasty gossip that is hearsay but really is true, yet why it is anyone else's business is beyond my comprehension. The incredibly small circle of friends strikes again! Last night I stayed up late, but this morning I woke up giddy.*
