To add friends on livejournal, go to "manage: friends" then click on "edit friends" at the top of that linked page.

Once you get to that page, check all the people that have already friended you and go to the bottom and click "save changes." That should do it. If you want to add someone that hasn't friended you already, you go to the bottom and enter their username into one of the blank spots, then press "save changes."
