hate to rain on parades, but:

-if someone continues to love you even when you make it difficult, they are true friends and deserve all the love in the world. give it to them.
-people who stay in situations in which they are being treated unfairly have no self-respect, and therefore cannot truly love.

aren't those contradictory, kinda...maybe not...but if they are then i'd go with the former rather than the latter...
