I'm so glad I don't have telly any more, just in case I ever felt sufficiently bored/drunk to watch this kind of thing. Admirable though your attempt to invest the material with some kind of sociological gravitas may be, I fear it's squandered in this case...

That sounds like my kind of programme - ie I could feel instantly and morally intellectually superior with no effort other than pressing a button and keeping my eyes open needed.
