When Tony walked into the bullpen that morning, he hadn’t expected to see Ziva checking out McGee’s butt. To make matters even worse, they seemed to be sharing some sort of inside joke.

Tony wasn’t a fan of inside jokes…unless they were between him and McGee.

As Ziva sat back down at her desk, Tony narrowed his eyes in suspicion and slowly sat down at his own desk. “What are you guys up to? Did McGeek smear Nutter Butter’s on his pants? Because I could totally see that happening.”

Tim gave him a look of exasperation. “No, I did not get Nutter Butters on my pants. You ate my last one.” Tony feigned an innocent look. “I have no idea what you’re talking about, McGoo. I don’t need any of yours, I have a whole stash right here” he replied, opening a drawer filled with the sweets to prove it.

“Tony, you grabbed it out of my hand yesterday and then stuffed the whole thing in your mouth.”

“I’d think I’d remember something like that.”

“How could you not remember that? You started choking on it and had to spit it out!”

“Choke on this, McGee. We’ve got a dead body. Grab your gear, let’s go.” Gibbs said, as he grabbed his coffee. “DiNozzo! Buy McGee a damn candy bar and stop stealing his food.”

“Right. On it, Boss.”

As he headed toward the elevator, Tony gave his own glance to McGee’s butt. He furrowed his eyebrows when he saw there was nothing suspicious there. It looked great, as always.

Tony stood behind Tim at the crime scene, having just finished taking photographs of the body. He shifted slightly to get a better view of McGee’s backside while he was still squatting down.  Tony still couldn’t figure out what Ziva was staring at earlier.

“Tony. Stop staring at my butt.” Tim said as he scanned the body’s fingerprints.

Tony let out a somewhat embarrassed laugh. “Don’t get the wrong idea, McTim. I’m just checking out the crime scene.” Tim gave him a pointed look as he got up to report his findings of the identity and additional injuries to Ducky.

Tony snapped a picture of McGee’s butt as the agent walked away.

And got a headslap from Gibbs.

As soon as they got back, Tony volunteered to drop off the evidence to Abby. After all, if anything was new with McGee, she would be the first to know.

“Tony! I thought McGee was going to bring everything down.”

“Yeah, about McGee….” Tony hesitated. Once he went down this path, there would be no return. Then

again, if he didn’t ask now he’d be sure to lose at least one night of sleep over it, maybe more.

“When I came in this morning, Ziva was staring at his butt. They were laughing about it, so McGee obviously didn’t mind. Not that I saw what the fascination was, since it looked the same as always…”

A slow grin slowly crept across Abby’s face. “Same as always? Aww, Tony, have you been checking out McGee? He does have a nice butt, doesn’t he?” Tony grinned. “Yeah…wait. No! I mean…Why would I want to check out his butt? Come on.”

Abby came up to him and gave him a hug. “Oh Tony, you really need to stop lying to yourself. But because I feel bad for you, I’ll give you a hint.”

Tony perked his head up at that.

“Timmy got a new tattoo! On his other cheek, this time. Since…it’d be kind of weird to get it on the same one as his other tattoo. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, since I have a lot of tattoos in weird places and…”

“Abs! I get it. So….what does it say?”

Abby shook her head. “I already gave you one hint! You’ll have to find that out for yourself.” She said with an impish grin. “Now go get me some Caf Pow!”

The next day, Tony cornered Tim in the breakroom.

“Come on, McSecret, what’s your tattoo of? It can’t be that embarrassing. I mean, it’s not like you got ‘Penny’ scrawled across your cheek, right?” Tony asked with a grin.

His grin quickly fell when Tim didn’t respond right away.

“….Right, Probie? I mean, she’s a cool lady and all, but come on.”  Tim gave him an annoyed look as he put his money in the candy machine. “No, I didn’t get one that says Penny! It’s a lot more personal than that.”

“Personal, huh? What’s it say, ‘Probie’? ‘Claire’? Or wait! What about…Jethro? Nah, that’s too many letters. ..Probably too painful for you. ”

Tim gave a Tony a smug look and retrieved his Nutter Butters from the machine. “Actually, it’s longer than that. It’s seven letters.”

Tony spent the rest of the day writing down words that had seven letters before giving up and tossing the paper in the trash can.

On Friday night, Tony stood outside of McGee’s apartment door with a pizza box in one hand and a six-pack in the other. He had spent the rest of the week trying to figure out a way to see McGee’s tattoo, but he was short on ideas.

He couldn’t pinpoint why not knowing bothered him so much, but he wasn’t sure he wanted to know the answer to that just yet.

“Tony, what are you doing here? I thought you had a date tonight with that new girl from the HR department?”

Tony grinned. “Nah, she ended up not being my type.” Tim gave him a skeptical look before letting him inside his apartment. “I thought every blond girl was your type?”

The special agent set down the pizza and beer on the coffee table before making himself at home on McGee’s sofa. “Nope. Besides, I’m hanging out with you tonight, so let’s just forget about her.”

Tim gestured to the TV. “Are we going to watch a movie then, or…did you just come over to check out my butt?”

Tony let out a short laugh. “Come on, would I really go to the trouble of buying this stuff just to pester you about your tattoo?” Tim walked over and sat next to him on the couch. “Yeah, I think you’d do something like that. Especially since Abby already told me that’s what you planned on doing. Plus, you’ve been checking out my ass since Tuesday…and you took pictures.”

Tony mentally headslapped himself for ever going to Abby, and mentally gave himself another one for taping the picture next to his computer screen.

As Tim went to put a DVD in, Tony sat anxiously bouncing his leg up and down. As the agent turned around, he raised an eyebrow at Tony’s antsy behavior. Tim sighed, “What, Tony?”

Tony drummed his finger against his knee. “Just…show me, Tim! It’s not that difficult!”

Tim tried to hide a smile. “This is really getting to you, isn’t it?” Tony gestured wildly with his hands, “Obviously! Trying to figure out what it is has been keeping me up for the past three nights…”

Tim gave him a look of annoyed sympathy before sighing and turning around, pulling his jeans down just enough to show Tony his tattoo, causing the Special Agent to roar with laughter.

A slice of pizza and a few headslaps later, Tony had finally calmed down enough to speak.

“That’s what it is!? I lost sleep over that?” Tim rolled his eyes. “See? This is why I didn’t want to show you.”

Tony controlled his laughter before leaning forward to whisper in Tim’s ear. “So, McGeek…any other surprises I should know about? I don’t think anything’s going to beat getting ‘Elf Lord’ tattooed on your ass…”

Tim grinned, placing a hand on Tony’s leg. “Well….there are a few things…”
