[Ned's been sort of off the grid, keeping to himself in his pod. Because as soon as he heard about the rodent invasion, there was no way he was going to challenge them. He's never had a good relationship with rodents, anyway...

He's been feeling very stressed. And who can blame him? Probably everyone is feeling stressed, to be fair. But Chuck isn't ( Read more... )

[If Zeke could see him, he'd notice that Ned visibly perked up.]

Really? Where at? Are there baking supplies available? Or will I need to visit some kind of weird, magical, forest grocery store?

Really? Oh, well, thank you. Ah, I guess I can meet you at the front of the temple?

I have not seen your mate.

Oh... well, thank you? [He's never heard anyone call Chuck his "mate." As though they were animals. To be literal, they've never actually mated, so technically would she be his mate?]

Well, if you do, could you please let me know? My name's Ned.

Hmnf.

Fine. Unless your female hears your transmission, and responds herself.

Well, she hasn't yet, that's the problem. I'm hoping things will lean in my favor for once and she'll... show up. However that's supposed to happen.

[Ned supposes it's just him who sees Chuck as the only pretty and kind girl in the world... To everyone else, those adjectives fit many girls, apparently.] Uhm, she's short... Around five feet. Long curly, chestnutty hair. Big dark eyes, and freckles. They sort of remind me of brown sugar... And she's usually smiling. Like, she usually has that look like you've just come home and someone's baking a pie and the smell hits you right away. And it just makes you feel so... so. But, well, if she's as confused as I was here--as confused as I still am, she might look less than happy. That's to say probably sad... And... that's a look that'll break your heart. It makes you want to hold her hand... [And that's something Ned could never do.

Ned sighs. Describing her in such detail just makes him miss her more.]

[Kevas is under the impression that all ladymons are pretty, kind, and perfect, at least most are anyway.

Unfortunately even the description doesn't help Kevas much. Pink-skins all kind of look a like to him, but it does tell him that this guy is looking for someone that's a lot more than a friend.]

Well mon, if joor ladymon be here den she gotta be havin' one of dese walkie-talkies and if I see her den I'll send her joor way.

[Or it might be someone who just sort of looks like her.]

...I really think you're viewing this situation a lot differently than a lot of people. Including me. We have opposing views.

What are you talking about? That you're a spectator?

[When her voice pipes in there is some general background noise: the wheezing snore of Groucho the capybara, the gentle breeze blowing past her open pod door, a jack-mouse squeaking from it's new jar home. It's probably a good thing that rabbits don't really make noise outside of death or pain, huh? Might be a bit unsettling to know that she has kept a few of these little furballs for herself.

She sounds pretty much tickled at life, despite the rough couple of days everyone has been having.]

Ain't seen no sign'a him yet, Ned. Makin' the best'a things here, though, ya know? No sign yet of yer broad, huh?

[She sounds genuinely sorry that Ned hasn't found Chuck yet; he was a sweet kid.]

[He tries not to notice that Harley just called Chuck a broad... he's met her. She just has a different vernacular.]

No, no Chuck... But I'm glad you seem to be pretty comfortable, then. Or, at least you sound cheerful enough... [Maybe Ned should take a page from Harley's book and figure out how to get by here without Chuck...]

[Doesn't Harley just have the sweetest turn of phrase possible? She never considers that the terms will be taken poorly .. well, sometimes she knows it will, but other times she's just running off at the mouth. It's her charm, really! in her defense, she likes Ned and has nothing against Chuck, so it's meant in a _nice_ way!]

Ain't nothin' I can do about it right now, ya know? I mean, if I could go home, I would .. an' there is a chance Mistah J might end up here, so I just keep positive! Maybe yer Chuck will show up with a batch'a people at some point. Til then ya gotta keep busy an' keep yer chin up!

[Doesn't she sound like a bubble of happy??]
