Why I think these two characters are inherently similar.
And even if they aren't it's a Christian Bale fest and who can argue with that? That's right! No one!
They both wear a mask
Be it figuratively or physically, they are both hiding their true personalities and both of these reasonings happen to be quite intriguing. For example, Bateman hides his true skin because he feels it would not be popular or the correct thing to do but that doesn't actually stop of him from his own erratic behaviour. Batman hides because he does not want to be known as a person but rather a force protecting the city. It's so he does not have the worry of being "caught" since he not a real person he is a figurehead, something that sends chills down enemies spines and elicts joy in the hopeful.
Basically they're both trying to fit into a world that doesn't fully understand them
They are both at the peek of physical perfection
This is my own personal joy. But at the same time they're both immensley well structured for their own reasons. Batman does it to keep up with the criminals, it's actually a very important thing for him. He needs to be fit and able to not only fight but also wear the damn armour (which is apparently quite heavy in the first film). Bateman keeps all perfect and shiny because again, he's trying to fit in. If he didn't have to I honestly dont think he would; infact he would go around doing what he does at night constantly. But society dictates a healthy lifestyle so he adheres these rules and so he looks after himself. The thing I find funny about all this covering up (and I think Christian Bale agrees with me on this one) is that I dont think he enjoys it at all but he does it anyway because he think it's correct. It's over the top nonsense but he honestly feels he has to (perhaps that's Bateman's naivety).
I used a busted up Batman to show it's not just for aesthetics ^_^
They both have a dark side
And oh boy are they fun... Ok not fun but you know, entertaining to watch and the reason for their popularity in general culture. I mean come on, Patrick Bateman the serial killer, Batman the Masked Vigilante. I also love that they both try so hard to cover these dark sides. There are so many sides to the character that is Bruce Wayne actually, there's Batman the good guy (or the image), there's Batman who is quite violent and trying hard to keep his temper in check, there's the front of Bruce Wayne the Playboy Millionnaire, there's Bruce who knows his friends and family (or Alfred who is basically the only family he has left). Bateman, I haven't the foggiest what created his darkside, maybe it's society in general... Maybe that's why it's so funny...
I adore the little dance Patrick does before he goes completely nuts :) Adds so much to the scene!
Both have interesting Night Lives
Be it Patrick hiring a bunch of prostitutes or Batman beating up criminals til morning, it can be said they both enjoy the night. Infact they both thrive on the darkness, so fitting to their personalities. Even Bruce Wayne has a fun time with foreign models, so they're both warm blooded men. And would we have them any other way? Of course, but these niggles are why I love them so much, small adjustments that can be ironed over... Oh if only!
Bruce can always be seen with two or more women when putting on his playboy front... what a guy *_*
They look alarmingly similar
Maybe its just me? Of course the sheer logic of this reason is that they're both played by the extraordinarily talented Mr Christian Bale. But lets just say it's because they both believe the reason is because they both want to be the peak of what women want... Or something... or again, maybe it's my own nigglish-ness... But even so, although these two fictional characters have a few things in common I think everyone will agree the most important thing is the face. But we're not that shallow. Or are we?
I found this one hard :/ But the face focus is nice, pure fan service of course

picspammy, challenge 10, Compare and Contrast
And thats it :) I know there are alot more words than there are pictures but I enjoyed it ^_^ I hope someone else out there does too since I prefer not to be alone in my Christian Bale worship. In all honesty I'm sure I'm not (I have a sister who likes him even more than me :O)
Ironically, although these aren't his best parts (although they're extraordinarily good) they're ones he's be remembered for, you know in his career. And that is not a bad thing. Definitely not at all in any way. I find it humurous how similar but completely contrasting they are really :)
And with Terminator 5 coming out I can only wait with baited breath.
