SRSLY! Such a hard time choosing, but those two...had to be them purely on the fact that I've re-read them so many times. On copy 5 of GO and 2 of Nightwatch so far.
Agreed!! Awesome development too throughout but still so true to the original conception of the character. I love the Vimes/Vetinari dynamic too (not in a slashy way, just...the dynamic is pure fucking gold), but Nightwatch...gotta be my favourite out of all the Watch books and can't even put into words exactly why :D
And Good Omens...so much fucking win.
Have now fully convinced myself I want to reread these, right now. *sporks work*
I still have my first copy of GO, it looks like how Neil described his favorites: held together with tape and dropped into the bath. Splurged and got the lovely hardbound extended edition, though. <3 Good Omens is the book I send to every person I know at some point in their lives.
Vimes and Vetinari have one of the best dynamics I have read in books, the antagonism combined with a weird sort of pseudo respect neither one like to admit they have. I really loved NW, both for the amusement of watching Our!Sam try to teach other!Sam, but also the actual almost civilty they manage.

The Vimes books were always some of my favorite of Pratchett's series, Sam really is that wonderfully heroic in the most unaffected, natural way.
