character name: Katze
Fandom: Ai no Kusabi
Timeline: Several months after the end of the anime (book 9)
character's age: Mid to late 20s
powers, skills, pets and equipment: Katze is an expert computer hacker, providing he knows the system. As the head of the Black Market he's an excellent fighter on top of being capable of an inhuman amount of work. He has quite a few electronic trinkets from his home world.
canon history: Katze was born on an unknown day from unknown parents and is assumed to be the rejected product of an attempt at genetically engineering a child with a certain aesthetic. Abandoned at a very young age, he grew up in an orphanage in the slums of Ceres. He left as soon as possible, at age twelve.
The streets of Ceres were a dangerous place even for an adult. Katze survived mostly by stealing and, when that didn't prove lucrative enough, prostitution. After a few years of this though, Katze realized he had to find something better or he would die. Hearing rumors of how the servants of the Elite of Society were treated, Katze determined that his best bet for survival was to go to Tanagura (The city of the elites) and find what he could. He was trained to be a Furniture (a personal servant) to an Elite. It was a wonderful opportunity with a terrible cost; complete castration.
Katze was fortunate; he was selected by Iason Mink, the Head of the Syndicate, the ruling body of their planet. Several years passed in an agreeable manner until Katze began exploring the computer systems of the government when Iason was away. He had found the main codes, capable of destroying every major institution in the city, when Iason caught him at it and struck him across the face with a cane, scarring his left cheek.
Custom would dictate that Katze be reported and executed. Iason, however, decided to take over the Black Market of Amoi and install Katze as its head. Katze was released from service as a Furniture, given the tools he asked for and began working as a free agent under Iason. For another few years Katze was content, taking over the market and spending his time running it.
Around this time, Iason broke a law by beginning a physical relationship with his mongrel Pet named Riki. Katze watched the saga unfold and Iason's fall from grace, attempting to warn them both of the consequences but going unheeded. The two lovers were killed in an explosion when Iason was injured rescusing Riki and Riki refused to go on without him.
After their deaths, Amoi was plunged into turmoil. Katze faded into the shadows as he always did, working for a friend of Iason's in much the same capacity though his view of the world was entirely changed.
personality: Katze has been trampled underfoot since infancy and as a result, knows how to hide his feelings. He is not one to fly off the handle, dealing with whatever comes his way with a cold calmness. He can be docile and serving, the picture of an ideal servant. If he falls apart in private, that's his own business.
He is very blunt and to the point with those he considers equals or lower. He won't sugar coat the truth and doesn't expect anyone to do so for him. The realization that the world (any world) is never a fair place was made early on but he doesn't bask in this fact; he simply accepts it and moves on.
Beneath a strong and stoic exterior, Katze is always analyzing a situation and judging not necessarily what is right in the situation but what allows society to function the best it can with the least number of casualities. His mind is always at work and he can quickly work out most puzzles.
Katze does possess a softer side as well. He is gentle and caring with those he relates to, children in particular. He knows no one can stay innocent for long and has a mixture of respect and chagrin at it, but will go out of his way to keep someone he cares for safe.
why do you feel this character would be appropriate to the setting? Because Anatole is actually a fair step up from the setting he normally inhabits!

important development and/or events in your previous game: Katze was able to come to terms with Iason's death. He discovered that not all worlds have a caste system based on hair color even if he stubbornly clings to it. He also found Iason again briefly, realized that he's still a bad person, and that he doesn't care and will continue to serve him. Possibly forever. He also adopted a young teenager temporarily and gained a more nurturing side.
notes: Katze's canon is a very...heavy canon. I can provide information about his world if required. Mostly I'd love to import him because it was a really slow process for him to grasp that mongrels don't exist everywhere.
