Taggert went wandering. He does that from time to time. Travels the world, goes on safaris and such, hunting for exotic specimens. He'll be back.

Oh, I'm well past the episode he came back in now. I was just annoyed at the time that there'd been no mention of him or where he went for the whole season. Apparently when it aired, the production team were getting the same questions, which is why they had him and Jo have that whole, "sorry I left without saying anything" conversation. At least, that's what I think happened. Also, since Henry wasn't in that ep, I think they couldn't afford to pay both actors at the same time.
