This is the one Friday the 13th that I can recall having any bad luck for me.
It's my day off. It's my birthday. I wasn't supposed to have to work godsdammit. But I get a call from one of my employees about an hour before her shift. Apparently her and her mom have been fighting, and she's trying to switch days with me so she doesn't have to come into work all puffy faced. I explain to her it's my birthday and I really don't want to have to work. So she agrees to come in a couple of hours late. No problem, the employee on duty is willing to hold over until 4.
At 4:15 she still hasn't shown up for work. I call her cell and get an error saying that it's not accepting incoming calls. I call the number I reached her at earlier. It goes to a voicemail and I don't recognize the name. So I call again. This time a guy picks up. When I ask for her, he says she's not available. I tell him I'm her supervisor and that she was supposed to be at work right now and she's not there. He tells me that she's at the doctors because she had a panic attack. He mentiones that they will be there another 45 minutes or so waiting to find out what happened and if she had a mild seizure or not. He gets my name and says he'll tell her I called. The guy at the gate had plans and needs to leave. So I throw on my uniform and get to work in about an hour with having to stop and get gas.
So yeah. I'm at work. On my birthday. When it was supposed to have been my day off. Little Miss Panic Attack had better have a Doctors Note, seeing as she called in sick all last weekend with strep throat. Unless I see this note I'm calling bullshit and replacing her ass. This is not what I want from a new employee. She agreed to work weekends and she needs to stop trying to get out of it.
