My issue on the high speed train is: The fare is going to be about $50 a person. That's about the same as a good price on a Southwest flight. A plane flight, while agreeably not nearly as energy efficient as a high-speed electric train, takes about an hour. Add an hour of check-in and security at the beginning of your trip and an half an hour to scoop up your luggage and hassle with the rental car place or get to your favorite local mass transit ride when you get there and that totals up to 2.5 hours, give or take.
