Ruri admired her reflection in the mirror, loving the way the full skirt swirled about her ankles. This year plain vanilla was the ‘in’ thing for brides; satin or silk dresses with minimal embellishment and fresh flowers. Though Ruri rather liked her gowns to be frilly and flouncy, as she observed Megumi’s reflection twirling a bridal gown she thought it suited Megumi well; her clear radiant complexion and schoolgirl features would simply drown in lace and ribbons. Mentally Ruri gave herself a pat on the back for succeeding in cajoling Megumi to accompany her to her dress fitting - Yuusuke was getting annoyed at Megumi’s sudden reclusive attitude. Honestly Ruri couldn’t make head or tail of it; Megumi had been perfectly fine before she fell down the stairs, and now she acted like she had caught a contagious disease and won’t meet with people.
Her thoughts were broken when she saw Megumi halt and the dress slipped from her fingers. “Megu?” She called and Megumi’s head whipped in her direction. Ruri blinked. “Are you alright?

Shiraishi Megumi didn’t believe in ghosts. When she was six she went to a sleepover where they spent the night trading ghost stories… except Megumi. She didn’t have a single ghost story to tell, and had no idea why people were so frightened.
But if ‘ghost’ equaled to ‘fear’, that the figure of Aizawa Kousaku standing on the other side of the shop window certainly would qualify as a ghost. He stared at her with a mixture of disbelief and hurt, and her faint reflection seemed to mirror that. She couldn’t believe he was here. She couldn’t help feeling pain at the sight of him. Automatically her hand released the dress to reach out -
“Megu?”
Ruri. Megu immediately remembered why she was here - accompanying Ruri on her fitting. And by the look of the dress Ruri was wearing, she was almost done.
Megumi glanced at the shop window and felt a skittle of apprehension at Kousaku’s disappearance. Surely she did not imagine him? Her wandering gaze drifted down at the pool of satin at her feet. “Ah… I dropped it!” She dived for the gown and laughed nervously, glancing at the shop window. “Um, are you done, Ruri?”
Ruri cautiously walked over and looked out of the shop window, curious as to what had startled Megumi. Outside passerbys paid no attention to their surroundings.
Nobody was there. And yet something had bothered Megumi. Surprised her badly enough to freeze her.
Megumi meanwhile was apologizing to the shop assistant for dropping the dress, and Ruri looked out of the window one last time.
If she had only come a second earlier, she would have seen Aizawa Kousaku walking away as fast as he could.

A gown.
A bridal gown.
As he walked further and further away from the shop, his frown grew deeper and deeper. Of course. It all fits. Her boyfriend. Her anxiety. Of course. Her sudden resignation. She was afraid of their one night stand and didn’t want to be accused of infidelity. Of course.
What a fool he was!
Impulsively he punched out and instantly winced when his fist connected with a wall. What a fool he was, for thinking they could have been more. They had nothing but a mistake. Just that. Didn’t she stress that? And yet why did he keep thinking…
After a few minutes he finally bowed his head and took a deep breath. The time for foolishness has passed. If Megumi wanted this, then so be it.
“I hope you’ll be happy,” He whispered.
