Okay, here's a little pet story I have from today . . .
Well, I have to admit one thing - I am a very proud animal lover, and also a proud pet owner of pets with odd personalities. I don't have pictures of all my pets, however, I do have loveable stories about them . . .
Just to give a brief rundown of my pets:
I'm not sure exactly what type of fish my fish is, but it's been called a tilapia on occasions, but it definitely isn't . . . soon, I'll have a picture up, and if anyone could help me identify what kind of fish that is, it would be lovely! :3 Anyways, it's a huge white fish roughly larger than my forearm (I got it three years ago the size of my hand . . .), with the occasional red markings under the scale (totally not natural, since it never grew back after it got struck by some weird sickness), with a belief that it's a guard dog.
Yeah, odd fish, I got to tell you. It's name is . . . Madonna . . . but I've taken a liking to call it Fishy.
I used to have a pet lobster as well, actually. He would climb out of his aquarium somehow, and walk around the house the whole night looking for someone to hug. Seriously. The first time it happened, my brother woke up in his room, and screamed out "SCORPION!", since the lobster (think three quarters the size of your hand) appears black out of water. It was then the lobster got the name Scorpion. After that, he came out of the aquarium two other times. The second time, the whole family was sleeping in the basement because of the heat, and Scorpion was looking for them.
Yeah.
The little bugger actually went down the stairs to look for Mom and Dad.
Strange, huh? Or merely a coincidence?
The third time he got out, I was sick that day. And apparently, Scorpion found out, and paid a visit to me in the middle of the night.
It is seriously not fun waking up in the middle of the night hearing strange clicking noises by your ear.
Not fun at all.
I swore, I thought it was mice.
Then I saw Scorpion's tail.
=w=;
My dad and I are also real big bird people.
We used to have a pigeon that adopted itself into our family, seeing as we helped it out when it couldn't fly. Ever since we helped it out, Birdie (the name . . . ) stuck around, being used to the pampered treatment. I swear, we spoil our pets. Anyways. Birdie stayed with us a whole year, being an unofficial part of the family. He actually lived in the garage, and every morning, we'd take him out to the backyard to eat some of the seeds we left out. Birdie was very intelligent too. For example, during winter (he didn't at all migrate south . . .), Dad left Birdie outside for a bit to eat. Mom went to open the garage doors to drop me and my bro off to school, and something funny happened then.
Birdie flew from wherever he was hiding, to the door of the garage, and stared up at my Mom, waiting. As soon as Mom opened the door of the garage, Birdie walked right inside.
Yes, walked.
I do have strange birds.
Unfortunately, Birdie later disappeared on us.
Probably found a mate :3
Earlier this month, though, my dad brought in two other birds from his work (he works at a warehouse). Someone had gave them to Dad. Apparently, they were two chicks who did not know how to fly yet. And tons of power jacks were being driven around.
Yeah. Power jacks + birds = Squished pile of flesh, blood and feathers.
When my Dad brought them home, I saw just how young the two birds were. They were only a few days, maybe even a week and a half years old - they didn't know how to properly eat, or peck at their food. The first few days, I had to ground up the seeds and show them how to peck. It was really adorable, seeing as that every time they pecked, they either missed the food, or end up getting covered. Half the food went into their mouth, the rest all over me. My Mom was worried that the birds wouldn't survive, seeing as they were very young.
Now, they're strong and healthy!
Meet my two babies, Hikaru and Kaoru.
This is Hikaru - he's a little troublesome, seeing as that he's a little bit more hyperactive than Kaoru. Hikaru loves to explore around, and is a lot more vocal than his sibling. Today, just an hour ago, I found out that he really loves water.
How I found out?
I gave Hikaru his water bowl.
He jumped in it, giving himself a bath instead of a sip of water. =w=;
This one here is Kaoru. He's a lot more calmer than Hikaru (who's in the background, still wet from his water stunt). He's not as vocal as Hikaru, allowing the energetic one to run around while Kaoru just watches. Here, he's already grown comfortable on my leg, looking like he's about to nod off.
Cute guy, isn't he?
