Oshiro Sho
Age: 20
Position: Son of the Head Chef
Throne Ambitions: No, he's just the cook
Personality: If you're in his kitchen and you 1) don't belong there or 2) don't do what he asks of you, Sho automatically has a severe dislike for you. He certainly didn't inherit his mother's sociable nature, sticking closer to his father's gruff command of the kitchen than anything else. He treats everyone as equal, regardless of if you're a royal or the dirty boy that brought the eggs from the market. And, as equals, you all suffer five ranks below where he stands as heir-apparent to the kitchen.
Sho is quick to anger and slow to calm down, not someone to hesitate before he retaliates or snaps at. He will, however, give you a form of respect if you can earn it--either by your usefullness in the kitchen or by doing exactly as he says.
When not in the kitchen, well... he's almost always in the kitchen. But when he isn't, he keeps mostly to himself and is rather withdrawn. He enjoys sitting in the park and reading on his day off, having a strange affection for the serial/sensation novels that are popular with people of the common classes. He doesn't have many friends--more like associates of the kitchen. That is to say, he doesn't associate with anything outside of the kitchen.
As a side note, his eyes are a touchy subject for him. He was born with them being two different colors, and thinks that wearing glasses will hopefully distract from the fact that they're not normal. If anyone asks, he'll say "I was cursed by a witch when I was young."
Character History: The only son and only child of the head chef, Oshiro Kenji, Sho grew up in the kitchen alongside his father. And, from an early age, he began to see the kitchen as a form of sanctuary. He became familiar with the people in the market place when he went with his father early in the morning to buy the food for the palace. He became familiar with the servants in the kitchen and the lower quarters in general. He became familiar with the intricate flavors of spices and the slight degrees of difference from a perfectly cooked piece of filet mignon to one that was too dry. He picked up everything quickly, and became a promising successor for his father's position.
Sho has been working in the palace kitchen for ten years, and has since become familiar with everyone that involves themselves with kitchen work, as well as the ways of the palace kitchen itself. For larger events, he commands the kitchen alongside his father, although he has free-reign for the small luncheons and tea parties that the royals have. Usually, he acts as the assistant chef and takes orders from his father.
PB of choice: Watanuki Kimihiro from xxxHOLIC. Di-chromatic eyes, scrawny, not very tall for his age. Pale skin, dark black hair, used to be called the 'Ghost of the Kitchen'.
