i woke up this morning to a loud rumbling sound, the floors trembling, and the windows creaking.  it was almost too short, i couldnt decide if i was just dreaming or if it was for real.   it was just a baby quake compared to the one we had back home in 1991 (with the epicenter somewhere in baguio). i have memories of me being in a Filipino Club ( Read more... )

you were seriously in Filipino Club? Why?
But I remeber that day. We were in club meeting (ofcourse, it was club day in school) and were waiting for this guy from the Rotary Club. The paintings on the wall were shaking and so was wthe conference table. So much so tht I (ever sweet me) screamed at one of the guys and told him to "quit shaking the table, Peter!" (see, told you I remember). Then Mr.Salvador (now I know why I remember) told us to walk out the door calmly.
We get out into the courtyard running. And we suddenly stop because the little first graders were already there. All lined up in straight lines calmly staring at the weirdo running high school people.

I was at a student council meeting that day and I thought Alvin Trono was shaking the table out of boredom. He said pa in a very calm voice, "ay, earthquake..." Then I looked up at the flourescent lights suspended from 2 tubes (who's the weirdo who designed that?) and they were swaying too! A few seconds later this teacher on the verge of tears was waving her hand wildly at us saying GET OUT! GET OUT! THERE'S AN EARTHQUAKE! (darn, I forgot her name - but Kitch I think that was the Filipino teacher!)

I think everyone remembers that day. Too scary to forget.
