Situation; My firefox internet browser will say that it's lost connection. Starcraft 2 will do the same thing and boot me from games. It usually takes it about 30 seconds before it'll start running again. However my skype phone calls or say if I'm torrenting something, those won't ever drop connection. I hate that too!

It could be any number of things between you and the site...

1) The site itself being swamped
2) The router
3) The ISP
4) Any server along the backbone traced route

*sighs, n hugs*

Just be sure you aren't trying to use WiFi and Wired at the same time, and that will minimize your issues.

If it is network related, web traffic is usually on port 80, and SSL traffic usually on port 443. Skype and torrenting use other ports. Maybe there is something happening to your ports 80 or 443. YOu might have firewall settings and virus scanners tripping up port 80. Or if it's not your computer and the software firewall or virus scanner settings, it could be a virus, but it happens the same on multiple computers. That makes me wonder if it's not actually your computers, but network related.

Think about the router, and any hubs or switches you use. the whole path to the internet. Also, ask the ISP again, and make SURE they are not doing some sort of bandwidth shaping to throttling that is affecting your connection in that specific way.

If all the machines are running the same operating system (windows) try a Macintosh, or something else. If the problem does not persist to a different platform, then you might have a virus problem.

Get the virus program called "combo fix".
