Ok, here's an article written by Naomi Klein entitled "Disowned by the Ownership Society." It's a stupid article. Seriously, I wouldn't read the whole thing if you value your sanity. Here's what makes me just laugh my freakin' head off. Mz Klein here says, "Even in the wealthy United States, most people earn less than the average income."

What she means to say is that the median income is less than the modal income. Which is true everywhere.

You should read How to Lie With Statistics some time. I'm pretty sure Klein has.

I know what she means to say. But it still makes her an idiot. Remember, I'm a math teacher. =)

Everyone should read the book though -- it was written in the late 1940's but it is still damned funny and the cons explained in it are still being used today, by everyone from ad-men to politicians.

I think I might have to take a look at it. I'm not sure there's anything in it I don't already know, but I'll take a look at it.
It's hard to work with numbers all day long and not get a sense of how you can futz with them. =)
