When the movers brought the stuff my parents shipped us, I said we were short an item. That happened to us, but I insisted that we were right because I put those puppies together right away. We still ended up losing one shelf on the move but they found a couple in the van when they were getting ready to load the next bunch.

You should phone the movers and ask if anyone found shelves (give a colour and approximate size, i.e. "dark wood, about 8"x24"). Good luck and, yes, don't trust someone to tell you what's in the boxes!

I told my mom and dad what happened...and they told me there was only one shelf to begin with. Apparently they kept very tall things, like the Encyclopaedia Brittanica and photo albums on it, so they only needed one shelf, in two parts. I am certainly glad I didn't call the moving company and give them hell. I rather wish there were more shelves, but at least I didn't lose anything my parents gave me. I do have some tall books yet to unpack, but it's clear to me that some reorganization is going to be in order....
