that was refreshing 1st thing in the morning!! i haven't been on the sight in several days ... so i haven't seen the thread ... but i'm not surprised.

people rarely use their heads. mourning the pope is a passionate response born of YEARS of catholic conditioning- don't think; we'll tell you how to feel.

i am a graduate of St. Francis of Assisi grade school and Bishop Carroll high school ... i know, to, like you do how it really is. yes, those old rituals can be comforting and satisfying ... sometimes the mystery of it all even attempts to make sense of all the misery in the world ...

i left the church many, many years ago. they believe i am evil. i know i am not. if there is a god, that god knows the truth, too. if there is a heaven ... and pope JPII is there, he knows it now, too.

thank, honey ... i appreciate that. until recently, it's been very hard for me to think/write/talk about my feelings concerning the church. it was such a large part of my childhood ... i've even been known to - as an adult - attend certain ceremonies ... in an odd way, it's comforting. it's easy to understand how the masses get sucked into it ... rituals like the stations of the cross (my fave) have a decidedly calming effect and can bolster one against the rigors of day to day life.

only slightly off-topic ... am i alone in seeing a direct corrolation between the control of the church and the control of a Dom?

Fun to Read! kissthisfem April 7 2005, 06:48:40 UTC
I loved your post. Thanks for sharing that conversation.

I too agree that it would have been holy hell had Terry and JP died on Easter. Sainthood for both by sundown. Truly a sign from God.

And "Dying Easter Eggs" together...LMFAO!

You two are so funny.
