the last harry potter book...

I was delaying reading the book until I had enough free time. Turns out we have no classes (since yesterday) so I took out the copy and started reading it. Took me fourteen hours to read the whole thing, not bad... considering how I slaved over the sixth book just to finish it. :p

Anyway... on with the book! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)

Of course I have been spoiled. Stupid lab people who couldn't keep their mouth shut. Oh how I wanted to tie their tongues in a knot to keep them from talking about the book. So I knew that Mad-Eye Moody would die and Fred would die.. and that Mrs. Weasley would kill Bellatrix Lestrange.

But I didn't know that Lupin and Tonks would die! And Dobby! Waaah! He was so brave... I cried so much when I learned that the knife plunged into his heart. T_T I wasn't fond of Dobby, he was so annoying in the second book. But what he did, risking his life.. that was really cool.

I really don't know how Lupin and Tonks died. I tried to search for it in the chapters, thinking I might have missed something but I just can't see it. It's all sparks were flying everywhere and then they just ended up in the Great Hall. How anticlimactic. =_=

Neville really impressed me! I didn't know he had it in him. And how did the sword find it's way back to Hogwarts is something I cannot comprehend. I guess it really was Godric Griffindor's if it could be summoned by people from his house.

And Snape, I still don't like him. Even after learning about his relationship with Harry's mom. But you have to commend how believable his act as a double agent was. I could never have believed he was on Dumbledore's side if not for those explanations.

The battle at Hogwarts, that required so much of my imagination that I had to close my eyes at times just to be able to think how those things happened. I thought no one can escape an "Avada Kedavra" spell... apparently you can dodge it. Heh. How convenient... But the descriptions of how the fight went on and all the other details were blurry. I wish it was narrated better... but hey, I can't really ask for more or else there would probably be more than 700+ pages in that book and it would probably be boring.

And I'm still wondering how Hagrid didn't feel that Harry was still alive while he was carrying him. I mean.. his heart was beating, shouldn't he feel that? Weird.

Well, that's it I guess. If I left anything out, I'll try to post again.

It was really a treat. To read a book and enjoy it. I feel that it's been so long since I've tried reading and enjoying a book. I haven't been able to read anything that is unrelated to my thesis, or to other subjects. I feel refreshed!

Now to go back to reality and face tough subjects among other things. :)
