My day started out fine, got to class in plenty of time, got groceries, came back to the house I'm staying at, you know. It got a little crazy when I realized I had forgotten a test back home, and barely flew into my later class on time. Then I get home, change into pajamas and watch tv

Other than that I don't know what else it could be. Maybe she just had an itch, and wants more attention from you?
If she doesn't normally bark that is a bit odd, but dogs are weird sometimes. If the bark sounds abnormal, then thats no good (if she doesn't bark often, then I dont know how you would be able to tell)
Usually, if a dog is in pain it won't mess with it spot that is hurting. I don't think that if its ear was hurting that it would grind its ear.
Anyway, check inside and around the outside of the ear and look for anything stuck or anything that could be irritating her.
Thats the best advice I can give you as a Vet assistant =P
...and as a piece of advice, I've never heard of a dog dying by something stuck in its ears. So I really wouldn't worry too much about that. Plus, 14 is an old age for a dog.
Hope that helped at least a little.

It may have just wanted attention, because at about 11:30, she finally calmed down. When I went to check in the morning, she had wet on the rug, so maybe she needed to pee or something...She's fine today, so I'm wondering if she was doing it for attention.
And her bark sounded fine. A bit raspy, probably from not being used very much, but strong.
:) Thanks so much for your reply! I might've over reacted, too. I was more worried it was a sudden infection and I'd have to run to the vet. :D
