This is an ignominious post

Dear wombat920,

I may not be able to go on saturday because I have dislocated my ass, to quote Master.

What happened? We were both leaving at the same time this morning, and I was leaning into my car to put a drink in the cupholder. I knew he was coming up beside me to get by to his driver's side, so I moved quickly, and, it turns out, wrongly. I stood up and twisted at the same time, and felt something pop. At the time I just said, "ow" and got on with my day.

As the day progressed, though, I could feel exactly what I had done. Your tailbone (sacrum) and your hipbone (ilium) are not fused together, they're held together with ligaments and muscles. The iliosacral joint has about 7 degrees of movement (this is different from person to person and is up for debate in different schools of thought, but anyway). Somehow I have managed to dislocate (at least mildly) that joint, on the left hand side. Sitting is painful, standing is a pain in the ass (literally), and I can barely walk. Disneyland's going to be a no-go if this continues.

I'll let you know how my day goes. I'm medicated and supported (propped up), and I'm hoping that I can relax enough for the joint to slide back into place. I'll call you later tonight. Don't count on me for tomorrow, though. Sorry!
