Oops, I've been failing at LJ again. Sorry, everyone!
Last weekend was fun, but very full on. I managed to stay functional by getting a few naps in and pushing myself, but I've spent most of the week recovering. It was worth it, though: I had a great time, and got to spend time with some good friends who I only get to see once a year or so if I'm lucky. I was a bit stressed out going into it, because a) I'm always freaking out about stuff, and b) one of the friends and I had a pretty major falling out a couple of years ago, and while we're pretty much trying to at least pretend that our friendship is back to normal, there's still some residual awkwardness. This time, thought, that all went pretty well, and all-in-all, it was a great weekend all round.

RIP Anne McCaffrey. While her works definitely had their issues, I still loved them. They were the first "grown-up" books that I read, and they taught me that growing up doesn't have to mean giving up your imagination (omg, grown-ups read books about dragons!). This led pretty much directly to the fact that the vast majority of everything I've ever read has been scifi/fantasy. In fact, without Anne McCaffrey, I might not have gotten into sf/f, might not have gotten into fandom, and thus would never have met all you amazing people. So RIP, Anne McCaffrey; in a very real way, you changed my life.

The NZ elections were on Saturday, and they pretty much went the way everyone thought they would. Which would be great if we hadn't been expecting them to suck. A couple of weeks of recounts and deal-making, and then Parliament can get on with selling off all our assets and harassing beneficiaries :(
I was texting with my sister on election night, and now my phone, which learns words and phrases when I type them, has a significantly more interesting vocabulary XD
And now I'm off to catch up on my flist. Hope you're all doing well ♥
