In support of the movement against PIPA and SOPA, I will be going on strike on for 12 hours (8am EST to 8pm EST) tomorrow and abstain from all activity involving the internet.

It seems to be ignoring that some of us have to work on the internet.

(That and I just don't understand what one-day boycotts like these accomplish. Nobody is going to stop using the internet period if this goes through. Its heart is in the right place, I'm just not seeing this one.)

Nothing, probably :P I guess it's mostly a gesture of solidarity with the major sites that are blacking out (Wikipedia, AO3 etc), and raising awareness, so that people who have representatives they can write to know that something worth writing about is going on.

Since afaik there's nothing else I can do to help, this is hopefully better than nothing?

I can see where working on the internet would be problematic though! I think some people are pledging to use the net for work but not for personal use, but I'm not sure I could withstand the temptation. Lucky I'm not working atm! XD
