Books Read #17-26
More short reviews than usual
17- 1/17 2:15 Voices of Dragons-Vaughn (new)(library)(ebook) pretty good but I hoped for more story at the end-a bit like that McKinley book, but I liked this one better
18- 1/20 Flash: The Wild Wests-Waid, Acuña, Williams (new)(library)(paper)(comic) not 100% sure where this is in the time line, but it was cute
19- 1/20 The New Exiles:The Enemy Within- Claremont, Grummet, Seeley (new)(library)(paper)(comic) I like this mostly because it's like his old Excalibur stuff. The whole thing's like another version of the crosstime caper storyline (not a bad thing-I obsessively collected the whole run of original Excalibur)
20- 1/21 Through the Language Glass- (new)(mine)(bought-iTunes)(ebook) interesting stuff, how do culture, biology, and language interact to shape our perceptions
21- 1/23 1:30pm Goldfish Dreams-Hines (new)(mine)(bought-kindle sale)(ebook) good, both difficult to read and difficult to stop reading. Not a sf/f book, but has a bit of the feel, like books by sf/f authors get even when they're not writing in those genres (for me, this is a good thing-it means the pasting isn't glacial and there's a plot, unlike what more 'literary' authors tend to do) Very triggery, but not salacious

Drier than the other language book, but still an interesting read. They overlap somewhat, so I'd suggest starting with the other one

Completely nuts, partly because it is rather cracktastic and also because it's so different from what's gone before
25-1/26 10:00pm Sprig Muslin-Heyer (new)(mine)(bought-kindle sale)(ebook) so hysterical. I loved this. especially the last 1/3. Some of the earlier sections were frustrating but once the shooting occured, it was absolutely brilliant. Perhaps the male lead was a bit of a damper, keeping things from becoming completely absurd and with him temporarily out of the picture, it just went over the top?

yet another setting and bizarre set of obstacles to be overcome. This is also the one in which many fancy dresses and pieces of jewelry are lovingly described.
