my great aunt passed away this week. she was my mamaw's older/only sister. and she was the inspiration for a story that i wrote this past year. Wow, I don't even have words.. I haven't cried over an entry in a long time. I'm very sorry for your loss. Just know she's in a happier place now. Reading about your Uncle call out for her to wake up was heartbreaking and I completely broke down. I watched my grandfather go through the same thing. I'd like to read Hamburger Hunks if you're ever able to find it again.

oh darlin'. i didn't mean to make you cry. god knows i've seen enough of the waterworks these past two days. i'm so sorry about your grandfather.he funeral is tomorrow around one. so we'll see how that goes.

i think if i ever have to deal with alzheimer's i just want to end it before things ever get that bad.

i don't think i've ever watched a more depressing scene unfold. my uncle has alzheimer's and he's in the final stages. when he got to the funeral home yesterday, he sat in front of the casket in a wheel chair begging her to wake up. he reached into the coffin to shake her, saying her name over and over..."babe, we've got to go. go on and get up now!" every day he's going to look for her, ask about her. and every day he'll have to discover that she's gone forever all over again

Jonny's grandfather's going through the same thing. He keeps asking if May's gone out to the shops. :( After the funeral he asked when we were going to the funeral. Poor guy. It is the saddest thing.
