The only reason, and I am dead serious here, why I would ever want to have a daughter is the sheer amount of the most adorable clothing for girls out there. Ok, maybe not DEAD serious, but nonetheless, isn't it unfair that for every one semi-cute boy's t-shirt there are at least 20 most gorgeous girl's dresses, and on sale to boot ( Read more... )

I have to admit, cute girl outfits are irresistible. I've never been a girly girl myself and never thought I'd enjoy this ridiculous shopping and dress-up thing, but I do.

One company I'd recommend for their quality and many vibrant unisex designs is Zutano.

Net, ne skazhi, mne naoborot eta fraza kazhetsya vechnoj, i sovsem ne v otritsatel'nom smysle. Nu, mozhet imenno mne ona podhodit, ya Niku dazhe inogda kukloj eshyo do rodov nazyvala :)

Every time I stop by a "children's boutique" I run out the store in horror, - the prices are astronomical! But Detroit is no Boston :) He wears 12-18 months right now, for most of his stuff. So far, he's been fitting into the sizes that are his age appropriate, surprisingly. Probably because his weight is on the lower end of the spectrum. What about Musya?

I shouldn't have a girl for the opposite reason: she'll be running in jeans and T-shirts most of the time (half of those T-shirts will be hand-me-downs from the brothers). Oh, and another thing, I hate hate hate the fact that 80% of girls' clothes are pink or purple.

Yeah-yeah, that's what we all say. Pink gets everyone eventually, even with 80% jean and T-shirt wearing.

I think the reason it gets everyone is because people don't have much choice with other colors and don't have time to shop for non-pink clothes.

I tried to buy unisex clothes for my older son before #2 was born, but eventually just gave up. When I am faced with a choice of getting a fancy green T-shirt for $15 or a blue one at Target for $3.99, 9 times out of 10 cheapness wins :)

Absolutely not true! Even before this comment you just wrote I was thinking of taking a bunch of pictures of our kids' clothes and making a post titled something like "Nothing but pink? Give me a break!" :)

I am not advocating fancy clothes for kids, but some which aren't the cheapest are worth it because they wash better and generally last better. And even among the cheapest there is usually some white, grey, beige and red. We buy some boy pants because they are better than girl's, in grey, red, orange, dark purple and blue.

На мальчиков постарше иногда бывают классные outfits, но в общем да, согласна -- я с вожделением на эти платьица смотрела, пока девченки не было.

А теперь мне она кажется всего забавней в Гошкиных старых шортах-комбинезонах :)

I found this company in Nordstrom Rack today, Me Too, and they had super-super bright boy summer outfits, and relatively affordable, I got a bunch for next summer. But of course, same company girl clothes were waaaaaaay prettier :) Funny thing, the thing I want to buy the most is tights, colorful, pretty girlie tights :)) Maybe because growing up we were always forced to wear our old boring beige or grey monstrosities.

Yep, we have a few Me Too outfits and I like them a lot.

Next year I'm buying Mira lots of colorful tights (and I bet she'll end up wearing white ones only, because they'll go with everything :) ).

No, no, no, don't do that. The tights don't have to match exactly, they can have a completely different pattern than the outfit, just pick up on some of the outfit's main colors and that'll look adorable. I know it can look a bit drastic to the untrained eye, but heck, she's only little princess once :))

And yes, I'm evil, but I bought 2 pairs of baby-blue tights with red and pink on them for Nico, for the winter (for under the pants un pj's). He wore tights all through last cold season; how else could I have kept his legs warm? :))
