Take That

Yesterday a shocking thing happened. Robbie Williams reunited with Take That. Strange because lately I've been listening to TT a lot, I've been watching old videos and concerts a lot and now this happens. To say I'm completely happy about it would be a lie. To say I hate it and won't be fan anymore would also be a lie. I have been a fan for almost ( Read more... )

I think... Amen to that!

I didn't wear any TT stuff to school (didn't need any more bullying than what was going on anyway...), but I can totally understand every single point you mention.

Personally though, I'm glad that Robbie is back. It's not as if they were missing anything, they did VERY fine without him, but he's like the missing cat? that ran away. The family moved on and worked perfectly fine without the cat, but now where the cat is back, everything like it should be.

And people/journalists who say that TT only attracts girls/woman and has no further merit, should get the DVD and watch it. But hey, why spend money if you've already made your opinion -.-;;;;;;

I stopped wearing them after a while, but by then everybody knew that I was a TT fan. Fortunately I was with some other girls, that were also fans so I wasn't completely alone. But they lived in other villages, so the bus trip home from school was torture. And then I stopped wearing them....

I love the cat analogy. Robbie was a real comedian. And I'm not sad he's back, musically at least I think it's going to be great.

I think the problem with music journalists is that they are predominantly male and they always have to ensure themselves and others that they are tough guys, into edgy stuff that no one else would listen to because they are sooo sophisticated and ahead of their times and that us Common People just don't understand. Back when I still bought magazines or at least went to WOM once a month to get a WOM magazine (if it wasn't lying around in the student cafés I used to hang out at) when reading the reviews I often wondered whether these people were tone-deaf or clinically depressed and liking it or on crack or all three at once. And a male friend once explained to me that you needed credibility as a music journalist and that meant being hardcore in every possible way. Hardcore!hardcore was liking every nonsense-screaming nu-metal band on the planet and boring!hardcore was liking boring whiny "shoegaze"-stuff. But, oh, beware of the mainstream! Because only idiots like mainstream! Music journalists are so much better because they have taste ( ... )

Thanks for your insight on music journalists. And you're so right. Whenever I read reviews of music in magazines or the newspaper it's ALWAYS men who have that arrogant attitude and in their opinion superior music taste. They know it all better and god beware of people who listen to mainstream. I know I should be over it by now, but I hate this "I know better" thing so much, I could punch these people in their stupid faces all the time. I hated it back in the 90s and I hate it now.

Oh, yes we we're bullied. But I have to admit I'm guilty of teasing others, too. Especially Kelly Family Fans. For me the Kelly Family probably was the same thing others thought of TT. But I was young and didn't know any better. :) And it's good that not everybody likes the same music, that would be pretty boring, right?
