I'm still annoyed by how PAT the whole thing was. A hunter family, but she did the Sam thing and didn't ever tell John? BOTH kids are named for her parents? Gimme a break.
I don't know about the omniscient part, though. He says 'now you know what we know' which implies that they already knew why the demon was infecting children. They can't see into Hell, but that's not surprising.
And I'm still not sure whether the whole thing wasn't a clever lie to convince Dean that Castiel is who he claims. It's mighty convenient that everything was "predestined" and that al Dean really learned was that there was supposedly another mission.
Granted, it makes some sense that Mary made the deal to save John, but the rest? Too neat and tidy.
