OMG this turned out SOOOOO GOOOOOOOD!!! Great case, great Sam/Dean, great original characters! Reading your authors' notes, I'm especially impressed by the way you wove historical details and 'true' legends into a fine tapestry. Why am I not surprised that you do it better than me? :D
Random, but have you ever read The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd? I stumbled onto it about a year or so ago. It takes place on a fictional island off Carolina and from what I remember, it talks a lot about Gullah culture. So I felt like I had a leg to stand on when you brought that aspect in.
Also, I seem to be the only person I know who actually likes the smell of asafoetida. IDEK.
It has been an absolute joy to read a well told, interesting and flowing case fic. Also I really liked the way you showed us the guys feelings for each other and their coming together.
