Here'[s something funny when you think about Zelda 2 for the NES.

I'm currently going through the Japanese version, and there's a good amount of minor differences.

1) When you gain a level, you can raise ANY attribute. So in the beginning I got stupid and leveled my attack to 8 while my life/magic were at 1. Good for killing, but also being killed VERY quick at the same time.

2) In the US version, when you get hit by most of those bone thingies, you lose EXP. In the JP version, you do not.

3) Those floating skulls that take your magic away. In the US version, you get 50 exp for killing them. (yes you can kill them). In the JP, you get 10. :S

4) The bosses changed a bit with dungeon 5. And 6 slightly as well.

Usually to get past those bone thingies, I just do my downward stab motion to help, or just use the aerial low attack.

Anyhoo, see you at Otakon

I seem to remember being able to raise an attribute of your choice in the US version.

The Darknuts in that game are seriously the spawn of satan. They're so hard to kill. I am Error.

In the US version, that's not the case. What happens is that each attribute has a set # of exp you need to raise a level. Here's an example.

you need 200 pts to raise attack to lvl 2, 100 pts to raise magic to lvl 2, and 50 pts to raise life to lvl 2.

In the JP version, once you hit 50 pts, you can raise any of the attributes to lvl 2.

Ugh, those darknuts. They probl are his spawn.
