Comments/Notes: So names. Because this is a fantasy AU with angels and demons and witch covens and others, I've carefully considered which of the multitude of names best fits each character and am running with it. Thus there will be a mix of stage names and real names and nick names that may not seem very consistent, but I promise that a lot of thought went into the decision making process. Also, yes the switches between Hankyung and Han Geng are entirely purposeful.

Heechul sighed and rolled his eyes as Hankyung flopped against him. “s'ok, chu. S'ok.”
Quick reflexes were the only thing that kept the human from taking his eye out with the the flaily hands that tried to pat his head. He made a face and captured Hankyung's hands, holding them tight. “I really am pathetic if the doped up human thinks I need comforting.”
Hankyung frowned without comprehension before giving it up and cuddling close, the smile sliding easily onto his face.
Sighing again, Heechul just shifted slightly and let Hankyung snuggle.
“He's cute. I can see why you let him live.”
Heechul frowned up at Eeteuk, mildly annoyed that the demon had intruded on his brooding but more irritated by the insinuation. It was true that the humans he dallied with sometimes failed to walk away from the encounter, but he didn't kill all of them. And even the ones he did, died with a smile on their face. It was more than a lot of demons could say.
His reputation as a sadistic, evil son of a bitch had always been blown far out of proportion, but since he'd gone out of his way to cultivate it, he supposed he couldn't really complain about it. Much. “Killing him would be a waste of a perfectly good cock.”
Eetuek made a clucking noise of disapproval at that. For a demon, Eeteuk was such a prude. How Kangin put up with it...
He made a face. Love made everyone stupid - even demons.
“So..” Eeteuk reached out and brushed Hankyung's hair back, a vaguely amused expression crossing his face as the human's eyes crossed trying to follow the move. “The angels aren't being very forthcoming about this... Siwon.”
Though the older demon's gaze never left Hankyung, Heechul knew where his actual focus was. He let his head flop back with a sigh. “Of course not. They're angels. We're demons. Oil and water. Enemies from conception. It's the natural order of things.”
“Was that why he ended things?”
Heechul scowled, shifting slightly as Hankyung's head pressed harder against his shoulder in an attempt to see Eeteuk more clearly. “What makes you think he ended it?”
He felt Eeteuk's eyes on him. “Why?”
Why would you?
Why indeed.
He'd been trying to figure that out since the day he'd walked away.
He still didn't have a solid answer, just the strange twisting feelings in his gut that he'd never quite managed to untangle enough to understand.
“It doesn't matter. It was a long time ago.” He sighed and lifted his head again. “Eeteuk, the Siwon I remember... He was the perfect fucking gentleman. He held open doors for me, wrote poetry... It was almost sickening how sweet and cute and... nice he was.” Siwon had romanced him in a way that no one ever had, before or since. It had made Heechul feel important and special and damned uncomfortable.
In some small way, the angel was what had driven Heechul to take up the company of Kangin's ragtag bunch of demons. After Siwon, it had been unbearable to go back to an entirely solitary existence.
Hankyung gave up on Eeteuk and curled back against Heechul, mumbling incoherently against his neck. Something that possibly sounded like he'd noticed Heechul's tension and had gone back to trying to comfort the demon, though Heechul would never admit that it actually soothed any part of him.
He took a deep breath and reached up to pet the human's hair. They sat in silence for a long minute before Heechul looked Eeteuk in the eye, troubled. “How does someone go from being Prince Charming to being the kind of person who tries to kill his own brother.”
“It was a long time ago, Heechul,” Eeteuk said quietly, watchful. “People change.”
“Humans, yeah. Demons, of course. But angels?” Heechul shook his head and scoffed. “When was the last time you ever heard of an angel changing anything?”
He hadn't needed to watch Changmin's slow dance with Yunho to know how long it had taken to wear the angel down. He'd experienced that particular cat and mouse game himself, once upon a time.
Creatures of habit, predictable and boring. Change came to angels so slowly that it was hardly even noticeable. They didn't just wake up one day and decide they were going to take a walk on the evil side of life.
Eeteuk didn't have an answer, but Heechul knew that was because there was no answer.
Hankyung was snuffling lightly, his limbs twitching as invisible shocks periodically made the muscles spasm, reminding Heechul forcefully of what his human lover had done and he looked to Eeteuk again. Eeteuk was the oldest demon he'd ever met. Maybe he knew something Heechul didn't. “And turning on each other? Over anything?”
“Not like...” Eeteuk swallowed hard and glanced away, his eyes going hazy with memory. “The war in Heaven, I guess, but that wasn't... Rebellious children defying their father, but the angels themselves weren't … the kills on both sides were clean. Quick. Not like this.”
“He wanted his brother to suffer before he died.”
