drabble: Pink is the Color of Unhappiness (dooseob)

Summary: in the middle of it all, were the faces...

The two-year pocket planner was starting to look a little worse for the wear. The plastic cover had done little to protect it from the active lifestyle of it’s owner and the cheerful little monkeys carrying their armloads of bananas were only just visible through the wear and tear.
More than one page had fallen out, a victim of worried hands made clumsy by exhaustion.
Tiny, careful hangul littered the pages, very few days completely blank. Times were splashed across the cramped little boxes in a myriad of blues, blacks, purples, and greens. The most important ones were underlined with bright red.
There were notes scrawled along the outer edges, notations made here and there about anything and everything.
Smudged fingerprints made some things harder to read than others.
In the middle of it all, there were the faces.
A handful of little pink frowny faces were tucked into the corners of some of the date boxes. Usually they were in blocks of two or three days, though there were at least two occasions when the line of unhappy faces stretched on for a week or better.
Inevitably, though, each line of pink faces was followed by a larger, red smiley face.
As Yoseob looked up from the lunch he was sharing with Doojoon to see one of the Danbi producers approaching with a serious expression, he sighed and wondered how many pink unhappy faces were going to be lining his calendar this time.
