I will probably write another more obvious HoSu, but maybe this'll tide you over til then? Also, it seems... unfinished to me, but it wouldn't quite go anywhere else. Hopefully the other one will be better.

You see his eyes drifting away from you and you can't stand it.
You know who he's looking at, who's always in the back of his mind.
You know he cares about you, that you hold your own place in his heart. But you also know that you weren't his first choice, that you weren't the one he'd really fallen in love with.
Worse, he knows that you know.
You hate to see that guilty knowledge in his eyes when he's with you.
Sometimes he tries to overcompensate and you let him, taking petty vindication in his fumbling earnestness only to feel guilty yourself afterwards.
He's trying. Trying to let go of the other, trying to hold on to you.
Usually, he tries harder than you do.
It's not fair of you to force him to carry the bulk of your relationship. It's not fair to punish him for something he has no control over.
Losing him - especially to your own pride and pettiness - isn't an option and you know that, no matter what, you'll never let him go.
But no matter how many times you tell yourself to stop, you can't quite seem to let it go.
One day, he'll get tired of it and you dread that day with everything you are.
