~*~*~*~

Kim Jaejoong was insane.

He was also, Changmin decided, what people meant when they used the phrase 'screaming banshee'.

Of course, hiding behind his new band leader, Changmin had time to think of these random things that he probably wouldn't have had if he'd been alone in their new apartment with Jaejoong.

“Now Jaejoong-“

“Don't you 'now Jaejoong' me. That little rat bastard is going to get what's coming to him. He can't hide behind you forever!”

“It wasn't my fault!” Somehow he doubted Jaejoong would have cared for any explanation he tried to offer. Proclamations of innocence weren't doing him any better, though.

At his words, Jaejoong launched himself to one side and Changmin was forced to whip around, moving Yunho as best he could to keep the dancer between them. “Not Your Fault??? No one put a fucking gun to your head and told you to lie like a little rat!!”

“My mom would have killed me!”

“Now I'm going to kill you!!”

Somehow, even Yunho didn't seem like an adequate barrier against that kind of fury and with a squealing sound that he would forever deny making, Changmin turned tail and ran.

“God Dammit!! Let go of me!”

He paused and turned back to look and see Yunho had both arms around Jaejoong and had lifted him up off of the ground.

“You can't kill the baby of the group before we even debut, Joongie... Think of the bad press.”

“Fuck the press! It isn't fair that we're in trouble and he's not!”

Changmin wondered how he'd ever thought Kim Jaejoong was a cold, expressionless person. He raged with more fire than the boy had ever seen from anyone - even his mother the time she'd torn into one of his teachers for general idiocy and negligence that had led to several of the students, including her only son, to be injured.

Yunho was all exasperated calm though, and Changmin was thankful that they'd all decided that he should be leader instead of the eldest. No one else was nearly as adept at handling Jaejoong. Of course, no one else knew him so well, either. “He is in trouble. Just not with management.”

That gave both Jaejoong and Changmin pause as they looked at the band leader - Jaejoong's look more considering, Changmin's nervous.

Then Jaejoong was shaking his head and wiggling again, trying to get out of Yunho's arms. “Not good enough. I want the little bastard to bleed.”

With a sigh and a roll of his eyes, Yunho marched past Changmin and over to one of the bedroom doors. He nudged it open with his hip and carried Jaejoong inside.

A few moments later, Yoochun came out and shut the door behind him. Fresh from America, Yoochun still didn't quite fit in right, but things were getting more comfortable.

Or they had been before Changmin had lied.

Yoochun regarded him quietly for a moment before nodding and beginning to pass.

“You're mad at me too, aren't you?” Changmin couldn't help but ask miserably. He'd thought he was making friends with his new band mates but he'd let his own cowardice squash the fledgling relationships.

The older boy looked vaguely surprised at the question and shrugged. “Why would I be?”

“Jaejoong is.”

He didn't know how Kibum felt about it, but then, he didn't have to live with Kibum.

Yoochun shrugged again, this time with amusment in his expression as he glanced back towards the room he'd just been evicted from. “Jaejoong gets mad a lot, I've noticed. I think he just likes giving Yunho an excuse to calm him down.”

“Ugh... Can we not talk about what they're doing in there?”

Changmin glanced over to where Junsu had his attention mostly focused on the television and the game he was playing. He liked Junsu for the most part, even if the boy could be heavy on the prudish side.

“You guys shouldn't have taken him out with you anyways. He's too young to be corrupted by your immorality.”

Very prudish.

The American-raised boy grinned and moved to settle down next to Junsu, leaving Changmin to follow or not.

A particular loud banging noise from the bedroom made the decision for him. He liked porn just fine - better than fine, even, since the first time he'd gotten his hands on the finest wet-dream inducing magazines Korea had to offer - but live action from his band mates was a little much even for him.

He hurried after Yoochun, settling on Junsu's other side.

“There's nothing immoral about guys having beers. It's like... a tradition.”

Junsu snorted. “Maybe in America.”

“Maybe anywhere there are guys,” Yoochun countered.

For some reason, Yoochun seemed to have taken a special interest in teasing Junsu whenever the other showed any signs of disapproval over what anyone else was doing. He had a rather peculiar sense of humor that seemed to have fixated on Junsu as a target.

But as amusing as it could be to watch, Changmin had more important things to worry about just then. “You're really not mad, hyung?”

Yoochun shrugged as he grabbed a second controller and restarted the playstation, ignoring Junsu's protests about two hour investment and high scores. “You honestly think Jaejoong and I wouldn't have lied about it if we could have gotten away with it? Truth is, no one is ever going to believe that we didn't drink - even if we really hadn't. You... you've got that cute, baby face working for you. Use it while you got it, kid.”

It was nearly an hour later before Jaejoong and Yunho reappeared. Changmin had dozed off watching the others play but he jolted awake when the eldest nudged him hard with a foot. He blinked and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

“Hyung...”

Jaejoong huffed slightly before grumbling as Yunho watched with an approving look. “I'm sorry for yelling at you.”

A nudge from behind had the singer rolling his eyes. “And I'm sorry I tried to strangle you.”

Changmin was about to accept and offer an apology of his own when Yunho nudged Jaejoong again.

This time Jaejoong fidgeted slightly before looking much aggreived. “And I'm sorry for tossing your books in the bathtub.”

“WHAT?!”

Only Yoochun, who laughed so hard that he collapsed into Junsu's lap much to the other boy's disgruntled annoyance, seemed to appreciate the irony of Jaejoong using Yunho as a shield from Changmin.
