Oddly calm

So it seems that everyone expects me to be stressed about exams, motivating endless study sessions. But really, this isn't the case. I have studied, but really it occurs to me that if I haven't learned the material during the course of the years, cramming would be pointless and stressful. I refuse to cram. I refuse to stress myself out needlessly. ( Read more... )

That literature part sounds like an issue of the teacher. I mean, we (by necessity) probably learned the same lit crit techniques you did, but my professors never made it so we were tearing apart a book, rather marveling at the intricacies of them. My English classes were the classes that made IB for me, oddly enough. XD

But seriously. IB is a great program, but it's just as flawed as anything else. And I made the same judgment call. I just stopped studying. I never once studied for IB English, I watched Evita instead of studying for IB History. I reviewed a little for math and chem, but not all that much, and I just did the practice tests I needed to for Spanish. I studied the least of ANY of my peers, and y'know what? I got the second highest score of any of them. Studying =/= learning. People need to realize that.

Oh, she's a wonderful lady, and most other kids love her class. I think it's just me. XD I like English but I'm more engaged in math and science of late, so... *shrug* Mostly I'm being mopey. I haven't allowed myself to read for fun, so there's this big dark cloud over my relationship with literature right now.

I'm glad I decided to do it, absolutely. My mom said she wanted me to conclude high school happily, not hunched over a textbook while sobbing with panic. That's just what I'm gonna do. I'm no expert on education, but I KNOW that stress and sleep deprivation negatively impact scores.
