I like this and agree with a lot of it. That's why I always get so angry when politicians change their mind and people are so quick to call them wafflers -- I want the people in charge to be thoughtful enough that they can change positions! I don't want overly dogmatic leaders who won't change even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Which is why I think this president is such a relief from the last one.

Really?
I think you're missing a few samples of what has happened since the beginning of his term:
So why did Obama continue President Bush’s policies?
Why did Obama re-appoint Ben Bernanke?
Why did Obama continue the TARP?
Why did Obama follow up Bush’s failed $150 billion stimulus with an $862 billion stimulus?
Why did Obama not only continue Bush deficits but quadruple them?
Furthermore, here's an even more comprehensive look (and note that this all happened less than a year after the election!), where I'll cite a few of the more notable ones:
- Obama kept Geithner (elevating him to Treasury Secretary) and kept Bernanke as head of the Fed…and recently re-upped Bernanke for a second term. Again, while many may credit Geithner/Bernanke with helping to “avert an economic collapse“…don’t we at least have to blame them a little for, well, WHAT
( ... )
Hun, I don't know you, so I'm not going to bother engaging on politics with you -- it never works out well online. That was a comment meant for Kat, no offense, so out of respect for her and her journal, this ends here for me. I didn't read past your second line.
That's a shame; I would really like to see your explanation of your previous comment. For what it's worth, I also "want the people in charge to be thoughtful enough that they can change," though I strongly maintain that both sides of the political spectrum need to agree and recognize of themselves that they have their share of "dogmatic leaders" who have to alter their ways if they're going to try to make this country better.
Well, aside from visiting and starting comment threads that are only loosely related to the subject, you've made me begin contemplating whether or not I want to start (belatedly) participating in this meme, too. If nothing else, it oughta keep me from being "post-less" for a month. ;-D
